This is Michael Angelo Batio's guitar lesson for 2007. It's designed to challenge you to your limits...... and beyond. We're often asked, "Is it necessary to study each of Michael's DVDs before moving on to his next program?" No, that's not how the course was designed. All of these DVDs are equally challenging. They weren't created as a step-by-step approach. Each stands on its own as a unique program. Even If you haven't studied his previous lessons we highly recommend checking this one out right now.
Although this DVD is extremely challenging, you don't need to play these exercises at 200 beats per minute to get amazing results. Start slow and gradually increase speed until you're capable of blazing speed and accuracy. Regardless of what tempo you perform these, your dexterity, speed, and coordination will improve beyond belief.
This program contains 28 amazing riffs and motifs. They're demonstrated at slow and total shred speed. You see each exercise performed using picture-in-picture technology to view both the picking and fretting hand. The DVD contains files for printing the lesson booklet and animated tab to play along with each example at slow tempo. There are also three backing tracks to practice what you've learned.
In Speed Kills their was one "Monster Lick." This one has two. Plus, there are two complete performances: "The Blues" and "Prog - Live, Uncut, and Unedited."
We usually edit Michael's performance to enhance the experience. The cuts and dissolves move each piece to a climax. This time we did something a little different. No editing. "Prog" is performed from beginning to end with one camera, one take, and no cuts. YouTube viewers have accused us of trick photography, sped up tape, and pieced together tracks. This is simply not true. With this uncut video you can see the entire piece from beginning to end and realize that Michael plays this almost perfect every time. This is a truly amazing experience.
